Guidance for Teachers and Coaches

The ASA recognise the commitment of all those who work directly with children in swimming, whether paid or unpaid and in whatever position.  The responsibility to safeguard children in swimming lies with all those who work directly with, or have responsibility for, children in ASA clubs.

Wavepower 2009/11 section 2 “The Toolbox” gives details of policies and procedures to enable all who work with children to do so in a safe and appropriate manner.  The ASA have a Code of Conduct for all club, county and national level teachers, coaches, official and poolside helpers, which can be found in section 2 of Wave Power 2009/11.

The ASA Code of Ethics can be found in the ASA Handbook and on the ASA website. All those who work directly with children on poolside must adhere to the club and ASA child safeguarding guidance and procedures to ensure they safeguard children at all times.
