Emergency Action PlanIn the event of an emergency in any of the pools being used by Sevenoaks Swimming Club, swimmers/water polo players should be aware of the following procedures: - One short blast of the whistle from your teacher/coach means that you should listen and follow their instructions
- One long blast of the whistle from your teacher/coach means that you must stop swimming immediately, listen to instructions and follow them exactly and speedily
- The panic alarm or siren sounding means that swimmers must clear the pool immediately, wait at the side of the pool (on seating where available) and follow instructions either from the teachers/coaches or the pool staff.
- A loudspeaker announcement will give clear instructions which should be followed immediately, under the supervision of the pool staff or your teachers/coaches
- Spectators should remain seated unless asked to do otherwise
If it is necessary to clear the pool building:
- follow the instructions of the pool staff or your teachers/coaches
- do not go into the changing rooms
- do not wait to collect your belongings
- do not use any lifts
- emergency silver blankets are located under the benches along the shallow end of the main pool at Sevenoaks Swimming Centre only
- spectators should leave the building by the nearest fire exit
- swimmers, coaches and spectators should report at the assembly point advised by the teachers/ coaches or pool staff
- do not return to the building until the co-ordinator or a senior fire officer says it is safe to do so
- do not return to the building once the fire alarm siren is turned off - it will be turned off by the fire brigade when dealing with an emergency, and it is not an all-clear signal to return
- do not leave any outside assembly point without advising your teacher/coach
