Frequently Asked Questions

How experienced do I need to be?

Sevenoaks water polo section welcomes anyone as long as they are confident to swim in the deep end of the pool

Will I be playing with people my age?

FINA the governing body make the rules about team ages. The age groups are in two year increments i.e. Under 12, Under 14, under16 and under 18. Of course you can play in the age group above your own if you are good enough.

Where, when, how often do we train?

See sessions page - click here

Do we play matches?

Yes. There is no point in running water polo sessions if there are no games to see how we have improved. All age groups will play in some sort of organised match during the year. We play fun and friendly games against other players of the same standard, We play games against ourselves and we enter the Southern Region Winter League where we play against clubs from all over the south east of England.

Do I need to buy kit?

To start with a normal swimming costume will be all you need. All Hats, Balls and Goals are supplied by the club. As you progress you may want to buy a Sevenoaks Club water polo costume.
