Club Championships2011 Club Championships
All Full members of the Club, from Entry Level 1 to 6 to Top Squad and Masters are encouraged to swim in as many events as they are eligible for. If Sevenoaks is your second claim club, then you may swim in any of the heats to get a time, but won’t be able to compete in any of the finals. How to Enter You can download an Entry Form from here on the website (link) or collect one from the SSC Noticeboard at the Leisure Centre. When to Enter Your completed Entry Form together with payment, needs to be handed back to the Club by 20.00 Monday 17th October at the very latest. You can do this by placing your form and cheque in the folder provided on the Noticeboard. Please do not give it to your Coach. Which Races Should I Enter? You may enter any or all of the races for which are eligible. These are clearly listed on the Entry Form. If you can’t make up your mind which ones would be best for you to do, have a word with your Squad Coach. The Club Championships are a great opportunity for you to race different distances/strokes and everyone is encouraged to enter as many events as they can. The Laddie Chester races on Thursday 15th December are for the fastest six boy and fastest six girl swimmers in the Club, and are by invitation of the Coaches. They make a very exciting finale to the Championships – and we hope to be adding more excitement to the evening, so keep your eye on the Club website and Noticeboard for news!!!
Submit your Personal Best (PB) time for each event. PB’s are listed on the website under times in the swimming section of the website. If you don’t have a time for a particular event then ask your Squad Coach, speak to other swimmers of your age, look at other swimmers’ Personal Best times on the website or take your best guess. We must have entry times so that we can both input your details into the computer and seed the races to make sure that you are competing against swimmers of a similar ability to you. Obviously but the times you put on your form will not affect the final results. Fees The cost is £1.00 per race, and this must be included with your entry form, however, for families with more than one member the maximum amount payable will be £30.00. Refunds will only be given if events are not run due to pool closure. When are the Championships? The very first race is on Thursday 3rd November and the last one on is on Thursday 15th December. Events will be held at both The Leisure Centre and the Sennocke Centre at Sevenoaks School. Full details will be available on the website and on the Club Noticeboard (link) 50’s Festival All full Members can take part in the 50’s Festival. This is an exciting series of races which runs alongside the Championships, but the results do not count towards the Championship Age Group awards. These races are a chance for the older swimmers, who normally only race 100m, to get an up date 50m time, perhaps with a view to getting a Kent Qualifying time. They are also open to our younger swimmers who would like the opportunity to race over 2 lengths for a change. Awards Swimmers earn points, depending on performance, for each eligible event entered, and these points will be accumulated to decide the winner and runner up in each age group. There are also lots of trophies for other open events such as the 1500m free for boys and the 400 I.M. For events with finals all finalists will be awarded medals: other events are run as ‘Heat Declared Winner’. Please look at the Championship Timetable for more details. On the Day To be able to swim in an event you have entered you must register in time on the day at the Registration Desk, which will be open as shown on the Championship Timetable. If you have not registered in time your name will be deleted from the starting list and you will not be able to swim. For those new to the Club Championships and Galas, please look at ‘A Guide to Galas’ which is under the ‘Swimming’ section of the website and will give you lots of useful information. Who organises and runs the Championships? The Championships are run under ASA Laws and ASA Technical Rules of Swimming. Volunteers Please It is therefore a condition of entry that a parent or other adult family member of each swimmer must be willing to volunteer to help with the various tasks on at least one of the event days. You don’t need to have helped out before – the jobs which need doing range from making the refreshments for the officials, helping to organise the children poolside, time-keeping (nothing to be afraid of!) manning the registration desk or selling programmes. There is provision on the Championship Entry Form for volunteers to give the dates on which they are available, and volunteer lists will be posted on the Club Noticeboard nearer the time. However, it would also be helpful if you could contact Janet Benn, who is the club’s Home Gala Helpers Secretary (01732 454567 or janetmbenn@hotmail.com) in advance to let her know which dates you are available. Prize Giving There will be a Prize Giving Evening with disco(!) on Friday 20th January 2012 when all the awards from the Championships will be presented. This is a great social event and all are welcome, swimmers, parents, brothers and sisters etc.
Any additional information or changes to the programme will be posted on the Noticeboard and on the Club website. Please make sure that you check for updates on a regular basis. Any eventuality, situation or dispute not covered by the above conditions shall be determined by the Meet Director.
Good luck to everyone and most important of all – enjoy your swimming! | ![]() Noticeboard
