Outstanding performance by Sevenoaks - 16-03-2009OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BY SEVENOAKS YOUNGSTERS HELPS INVICTA THROUGH TO BRITISH WATER POLO CHAMPIONSHIPS FINAL On Sunday, 4 members of Sevenoaks Swimming Club represented Swanley based Invicta Water Polo Club in the 16 year old British Water Polo Championships. Ben MacDonald, Rhys Knapman, Angus Wyatt and James Manning travelled to Coventry for the fiercely contested league portion of the British Championships. With only one team to go through directly to the National Final the team could not afford any slip-ups. Angus and James were in the starting seven for Invicta throughout the day, with Ben and Rhys substituting regularly as players tired. Invicta recorded comfortable wins against Exeter and Birmingham before facing reigning British Champions Dunfermline. Invicta went 2 nil down early but after steadying their nerves, pulled away to a 7-4 lead with only 4 minutes left on the clock. Dunfermline then scored 2 quick goals to leave the boys facing a nervous last minute and a half which they successfully closed out. As a result, Invicta finished top of their pool and now go through to face Manchester in the Final at the Commonwealth Games Aquatic Centre in Manchester. more news articles... | ![]() NoticeboardSunday, 5th Feb Training: The Sennocke Centre is open so all training is on, although there is no dry land session for Silver There will be no swimming at Combe Bank on Monday 13th Feb due to half term. ![]() |
