Xander Hits The Big Time - 05-04-2010XANDER HITS THE BIG TIME!! 17 Year old Xander Alari-Williams has achieved the highest possible point of his swimming career so far. At the British Championships in Sheffield last week, he clocked up the fastest time in Great Britain this year for 17/u 100m breaststroke, 1.04.73 which gave him 16th place overall in the open event. He then repeated this position in the final with 1.04.87. He is also the 2nd fastest under-19. In the 200m breaststroke, he really showed his true talent - with a 2.18.89 he became the fastest 19/u in Great Britain and secured a place on the GB team to compete in the European Junior Championships in Helsinki in August 2010. He made it through to the Senior final and came in 10th place with a very slightly slower time. The results place Xander as the 3rd fastest 17 year old in Europe at 200m breaststroke and he was the only breaststroke swimmer to gain an automatic qualifying time for the European Juniors He has just flown off to Cyprus with British Swimming for a weeks’ intensive training at the Pathos Olympic training centre. With 12 A* GCSE’s under his belt, he is currently studying for 5 A’levels at Judd school and is living proof that with good time management, you can achieve at swimming and at education!!
