Tudor League round 1

4th Place for Sevenoaks in first round of League events.

Sevenoaks SC finished in fourth place out of 8 teams in the first round of The Tudor League at Eltham on Saturday.

A number of excited and nervous young swimmers were present for their first gala experience together with seasoned swimmers in the older age groups.

Newcomers Dennis Hansen came 1st in the 12/u 50 freestyle and Ben Channon came 2nd in the 10 years 50m backstroke achieving a PB. Also 9 year olds Teddy Wallace and Abigail Johnstone achieved PB’s in the 10/u 50m freestyle and Francesca Whiting in the 50 backstroke. Another newcomer in the girls 10 years was Sarah Williams who achieved a 2nd in the 50m fly and a good PB time.

In the 12/u age group a good swim from Max Humphrey in the 50m fly with a 1st place and a PB. In the girls 12/u Monique Gunter achieved a 2nd place in the 50 backstroke.

In the 14/u girls events Josie Hawkins took a 1st place in the 50m breastroke and David Wilson a 2nd place in the Boys 50m breastroke. In the Girls 14/u fly event Kiri Marsh also gained a 1st place.

The youngest age group the relay teams were very strong with both boys and girls 9/10 years freestyle teams achieving 1st place and the girls team taking 2nd place in the medley event.

The girls 12/u team was 1st in the medley and 2nd in the freestyle and in the 14/u events the boys team were lst in the medley event, and the girls were 1st in the freestyle and 2nd in the medley.

Despite some disqualifications on takeovers in the younger age group, Team Manager Ann Walkley said this was due to nerves and will be improved upon for the next round of the league. However with 5 rounds to follow, there is every hope we will again do well in the league this year following a 2nd place overall in 2011.
