Sparrow Gala - 23-01-2010

Outstanding win for Sevenoaks Team at Trophy Gala.

Two teams from Sevenoaks SC, Sevenoaks Red and Sevenoaks Black entered the Sparrow Trophy Gala on Saturday at Sevenoaks competing against Eastbourne SC, Sutton Atlantis SC and 1066 SC.  Sevenoaks Red team pulled off a resounding win for 1st place with Sevenoaks Black team coming into 3rd place behind Eastbourne SC.


The Sevenoaks Red team led throughout the evening with some outstanding swims from all the members of all the age groups events and holding on to first and second place throughout the evening


In the relay events Sevenoaks Red 15/u and Open age groups  were first in the freestyle relay and medley relays. In the 11/U age group the team came second in the freestyle relay and the medley relay.  The 13/U age group came 2nd in the medley relay and were just pushed into 3rd place in the freestyle relay.


The Sevenoaks Black team also had some   notable swims from Lindsey Sawyer winning   the 15/u backstroke, and taking 2nd place in the 15/U butterfly.  Alex Macaulay won the 15/U freestyle and Paige Stapleton coming in 2nd in the 15/U freestyle.  Tom Hordle came 2nd in the 15/U backstroke and 3rd in the 15/U Individual Medley.


In the Ladies Open backstroke there was a 2nd place for AJ Airey, 2nd for Carmen King in the Open freestyle event. Emily Cast swam to 3rd place in the Open butterfly and Mark Phillips was 3rd in the Men’s Open butterfly and took 3rd place in the Open backstroke.

In the youngest age group of the Black team, and against some stiff opposition from both Sevenoaks Red and Eastbourne, there were worthy performances from Jack Zijdenbos and Hannah Crofts. 


 In the relay events Sevenoaks Black Open team came 2nd in the freestyle relay and 3rd in the medley relay. The 15/u team came 3rd in the freestyle relay and 2nd in the medley relay. The 13/U team came 6th in the freestyle relay   and 4th in the medley relay and the 11/U team came 3rd in the freestyle relay and 3rd in the medley relay event.


Team Manager Ann Walkley said she was delighted with the performance of both the teams and credit was due to all the members of both teams for achieving such a good final result.
