SSC Summer Camp - 05-08-2008Over 40 members of Sevenoaks Swimming Club have just spent the last week of the summer preparing themselves for the start of the new season. This year’s camp was particularly important as the Club has recently been promoted into the Premier League of the National Speedo League and will be competing against the strongest Club’s in the South East. Consequently, the focus of the training camp was very much on team-building skills: swimmers were set a range of different tasks to complete in teams, culminating in a trip to Thorpe Park There was also a lot of hard work done in the water, with two swimming sessions every day focusing on pre-season fitness and with emphasis on improving technique through drills and exercises. There was also daily dry-land training with the Club’s newly qualified dry land specialist, Terry Farrow.
Club coaches Julian Metcalf and Jo King were delighted with the swimmers’ efforts: ‘After the successes of last year, it’s great to see the swimmers raising the bar – they are all really determined to improve further this season, as well as having some great fun as a team along the way! ‘Most of the swimmers who competed recently took part in the English Schools Swimming Association’s Division XI team trials held at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre, and it was great to see so many fantastic swims from our athletes. We are pleased that a number of our Club members have been selected for the regional team to compete in English Schools’ Championships next month.’ Swimmers from the Club will also be travelling to Dunkirk in a few weeks time to train in their 50m pool in preparation for the Club Championships and next year’s Kent and South East Regional Championships. more news articles... | ![]() NoticeboardSunday, 5th Feb Training: The Sennocke Centre is open so all training is on, although there is no dry land session for Silver There will be no swimming at Combe Bank on Monday 13th Feb due to half term. ![]() |
