National Final for Trio - 27-04-2009NATIONAL FINAL FOR SEVENOAKS TRIO On Saturday James Manning, Ben McDonald and Angus Wyatt played for Swanley based Invicta Water Polo Club in the under 17 British Championships, which were held at the Manchester Commonwealth Aquatic Centre. To qualify, Invicta had beaten Birmingham, Exeter and reigning champions Dunfermline, in the preliminary rounds. In the final Invita faced a very strong Lancaster team containing 5 of the current Great Britain team. Unfortunately for Invicta, Lancaster were just too strong for them defensively and they went down 17 - 6. All 3 boys had a considerable amount of water time and never gave up trying. The boys all received silver medals. James is also a member of the Invicta under 19 squad, and although not being selected to play in the under 19 final he was presented with a gold medal for his earlier efforts in the squad as Invicta won 10 - 9 against the Scottish National team playing as Dunfermline. The three boys follow what is now quite a long line of Sevenoaks players who have won National honours with Invicta, including Alex Tollefson, Josh Pitman and Tom McDonald.more news articles... | ![]() NoticeboardSunday, 5th Feb Training: The Sennocke Centre is open so all training is on, although there is no dry land session for Silver There will be no swimming at Combe Bank on Monday 13th Feb due to half term. ![]() |
