Kent Schools

Members of Sevenoaks Swimming Club have been in action over the last two weekends representing their schools in the Kent Senior Schools Championships.

Pride of place goes to Natasha Hickey (Maidstone Girls Grammar) and Alex Macaulay (Judd) who were crowned Kent champions. Ladies club captain Natasha was a comfortable winner in the senior girls freestyle. Alex won the junior boys backstroke by 7 hundredths of a second after a titanic battle with fellow club member Alex Robbins.

Alex was one of four medallists from Sevenoaks School. Mens club captain James Manning was second in the senior boys freestyle, Chris Baddeley third in the senior boys breaststroke and Caroline Gloyne third in the intermediate girls butterfly.

New member Patrick Hams (Tonbridge School) and Hamish Wyatt (Tunbridge Wells Boys Grammar) both smashed their previous personal bests to pick up silver medals in the intermediate and junior boys breaststroke races. Hamish has another year in his age group.

In the intermediate girls, another new member Katie Hoskin (Kent College) was third in the breaststroke, whilst Gabbie Norris (Combe Bank) continued her superb run of form over the past 12 months in finishing second in the freestyle.

All 10 medallists have been invited to swim for Kent in the annual match against Surrey Schools in March, an improvement for the Club on the seven swimmers who represented Kent Schools last year.

Please be advised that training at the leisure centre will be cancelled on Friday 19th March and Friday 30th April due to County Galas taking place.

There will be no land training on Thursday 11th March or Monday 22nd March.
