Kent County Championships update 2nd weekend - 25-02-2009SEVENOAKS SUCCESS AT KENT LONG DISTANCE
At the weekend the Kents continued with the 800 and 1500 metre races.
First up were the 800's on Saturday at Crook Log, Bexley. The club had 2 swimmers entered. Alex Macaulay and James Manning had both qualified through club time trials and this was their first proper competition over the distance. Alex had been away all week but didn't let this get in the way as he settled into a strong pace holding his position throughout the race swimming consistent 1.20 second 100's, to finish in a fantastic 4th place in the 12 year age group. James set out at rather too steady a pace sitting back in the pack, before delivering a blistering final 200 to take 1st place in the 16 year age group. James claims that in swimming the 2nd 400m faster than the 1st he was merely copying Rebecca Adlington!
On Sunday Niki Macdonald was at Black Lion for the even more gruelling 1500m, where she swam into an impressive 2nd place in the 16 year age group. Niki swam consistent 1.14 second 100's for the first 800m before settling back to finish with consistent 1.16 second 100's.
Great swims all round, and hopefully more Sevenoaks entries next year. more news articles... | ![]() NoticeboardSunday, 5th Feb Training: The Sennocke Centre is open so all training is on, although there is no dry land session for Silver There will be no swimming at Combe Bank on Monday 13th Feb due to half term. ![]() |
