Ealing Open Meet


A number of swimmers attended an Open Meet at Northolt Leisure Centre last weekend with some exciting results in all age groups.

The 50m events produced a numbers of personal best times and in particular 10 year old Andre Strydom beat his personal bests by large margins  in freestyle,  fly, backstroke, breastroke and the Individual Medley event.  Another young swimmer, 9 year old Francesca Whiting gained personal best times in the 50m backstroke and 50m breastroke also with large margins.

There were a number of good swims in the 100m events for Matthew Emmerson and Jared Whiting in the freestyle and for Matthew Emmerson and Max Murray in the 100m backstroke and Matthew Emmerson in the breastroke.    Tom Coveney was also successful with a 5 second PB on his 100m Fly.

The most impressive times were in the 200m events with personal best times in the freestyle for JJ Marsh, Andre Strydom Callum Brophy, Max Murray and Matthew Emmerson.,  and in the girls 200m freestyle personal best times for Francesca Whiting, Victoria Glaister, Natasha Cooke, Vita Milana, Poppy Holmes and Monique Gunter.

In the 200m breastroke PB’s  were achieved by David Wilson, Andrew Strydom Sam Hayes and Callum Brophy and the Girls 200m event saw Victoria Glaister (10 years)  also with a personal best time.    In the 200m backstroke event 9 year olds Poppy Holmes and Vita Milana achieved Personal Best in the 200m backstroke event and in the boys event good swims from Tom Coveney and Matthew Emmerson.  In the 200m fly Abigail Oram and Holly Gordon also produced pleasing swims.


All swimmers produced some fantastic results with many more smaller personal best times together with a large number of swims during the weekend for some of the swimmers.

There was a large attendance of a total of  20 participating clubs at this Meet with many swimmers in each age group event and some of the Sevenoaks swimmers proudly brought home some place winner’s medals.

Team Manager Ann Walkley said she was pleased with all the results of the weekend and in particular the performances of some of the youngest swimmers in the longer distance events which was a result of the training standards of the club.
