Arena League B Team Report - 14-12-2009

Arena League B Team report

Sevenoaks B team finished in fourth place at the National Arena league division 5 gala this weekend.

The final scores were:-
Black Lion B             160
Eltham Stingrays     154
Hythe Aqua               148
Sevenoaks B            142
Ashford Town           139

The squad were hampered by a combination of sickness and other commitments which restricted the squad's ambitions. Nevertheless, there were some great performances, notably by vice-captain Holly Miles and Elliott Neale (winners of the Open 100m freestyle ladies and mens respectively).  12yr old Emily Lobley swam a magnificent 100m breaststroke, beating the next 13/u girl by a massive 5 seconds!

The relays team had a number of good 2nd places including Girls and Boys 13/u (both Medley and Freestyle)  and the Girls 15/u (both Medley and Freestyle).

There were also some fine performances in the individual events.

In the Ladies and Mens Open 100 butterfly Carmen King came 2nd and Mark Phillips recorded a 4.5 second PB.  In the 15yrs 100m butterfly Rebecca Pearce was placed second and Frankie Batchelor obtained a good PB.  The 11 yrs boys and girls also gained second place in their respective 50m butterfly events ( Rebecca Harris and Charlie Brunton ).

Ellen Willumsen fought hard to snatch second place in the Girls 13/u 100m backstroke.  Dan Fox earned 2nd place in the Men's Open 100m backstoke with a PB.

Second places were recorded by Emily Skinner (Girls 15/u freestyle) and Hugo Caven (Boys 13/y freestyle).

The exciting 6 swimmer Open Freestyle Relays resulted in 2nd place for the Girls and 3rd for the Boys.

Sevenoaks B team swimmers should feel proud that so many personal best times were achieved and such a creditable performance was achieved despite the sickness and absence problems.  Team spirit was excellent and the Sevenoaks leisure centre resounded with rousing peals of 'How Many Oaks Have You Got?'  at the end of the gala."
